A few granules outside the box do not necessarily mean you have chosen the wrong litter. Some are kicked out during digging; others leave the box on paws or fur. Watching when and where the litter appears helps you choose a useful solution.
First, identify how litter gets out
If most litter sits beside the box, watch whether your cat kicks it over the edge. If a trail continues into the room, it may be carried out as the cat leaves. Try one adjustment at a time and compare the result over several normal box visits.
Dust and tracking are different things. A low-dust product can still leave visible granules on the floor, and a larger granule does not guarantee that none will be carried outside.
Give your cat room without overfilling
Choose a box with enough space to turn and dig comfortably. Higher sides may help contain kicked litter, provided the entrance remains easy for your cat to use. Kittens, older cats and cats with limited mobility may need a lower entrance.
Follow the fill depth on the pack rather than filling to the rim. KittyClean tofu litter calls for a 5–8 cm layer. Do not reduce the depth below the instructions simply to keep the floor clean: the litter still needs to work properly.
Try a comfortable mat at the exit
A litter mat outside the usual exit may catch some loose granules. Choose one that stays in place, feels comfortable under paws and can be cleaned easily. It should not block the entrance or make your cat jump over it.
If the cat avoids the mat, try a different texture or remove it. Shake out or clean the mat regularly so it does not become another source of dirt. Keep collected used litter separate from clean litter.
How KittyClean materials differ
KittyClean Tofu Natural uses plant-based pellets, while KittyClean Compact Plus bentonite has fine clay granules. KittyClean silica gel has crystals and a non-clumping care routine. Their different shapes and textures give you options to compare.
The amount carried out also depends on your cat’s coat, digging habits and box setup. Start with a material your cat accepts. Do not choose solely by granule size or assume that changing the material will eliminate floor cleaning.
Keep the surrounding area easy to clean
Place the box on a surface you can clean regularly. Sweep or vacuum loose dry granules promptly and clean any soiled material appropriately. Keep a small brush nearby so a quick tidy becomes part of scooping.
If you decide to try another litter, keep the familiar option available during the transition. A cleaner floor is useful only if your cat is still comfortable using the box.
